Rather interesting to watch the radar yesterday afternoon...what were little blips quickly blossomed into pretty feisty storms...the 'grab' below was taken around 4pm, showing 2 of the larger cells (click to enlarge):
The cell at the bottom soon got even nastier...the green triangles are interactive on a 'live' screen and when you mouse over it gives you a good bit of technical information, at least as determined by the radar algorithms. At one point, that storm had a marker for 3.25" hail, at least aloft...solid sign of one nasty hombre of a storm. The largest hail reported at the surface was 1.75", with several reports of wind damage.
Our Wednesday storms were but a small drop in the bucket of severe weather across the US...click on the graphic below to go to the website page detailing yesterday's storm reports:
We could see isolated storms in today's heat, as well, and while few in number they can potentially reach severe status. Highs will rocket to and stay in the mid 90s for the next several days, potentially setting the kind of records you don't want to be setting, certainly not this early in the 'summer' which isn't officially here yet. Ugh. Make that a double Ugh. Considering the cost of energy, make that a quadruple Ugh.
Stay cool, keep your cool, and chill out as best you can!
