"Making Lemonade Out Of Lemons: Part 1"

OK, so maybe fresh-squeezed lemonade would sound more enticing if it were 90 degrees out on a sunny summer's day...but you have to admit the real stuff tastes like no other. Too, there is sage wisdom in the ol' saying:

"If life gives you lemons, make lemonade!"

I used to think that there was also sage wisdom in Benjamin Franklin's quote:

"Early to bed, early to rise, makes
a man healthy, wealthy, and wise."

He obviously was never an early morning meteorologist.

Sunday morning, I was thrilled to spot the tell-tale white breast of the male Red-Tail Hawk I often photograph as I took Mercy afield. Thanks to the leveling of the forest, he was in a very different and distant location, but allowed us to eventually approach close enough for a few portraits. Lemonade in the Lemon-land of destruction
.

(remember you can click on any pic and enlarge it...)He and his mate have since vacated their usual perch, which now stands by itself, one bulldozer away from downing...I have on very few occasions seen them in the distance back from this area where there are (for now) undeveloped fields and forests...alas, that, too, is tagged for a Phase II housing development, so it is only a matter of time before that is leveled, as well.

...as I perused weather models this Sunday afternoon, it became more and more clear that warm air should win out over the cold early this week...although the backside sucking-action of cold down into the northern Foothills may still be problematic overnight Tuesday into Wednesday along the northern I-77 corridor. If you are not a weather junkie, then understand that this season's inconsistencies in model runs seems to be more un-trustable than normal (Rule 248, section 7, paragraph ii of 'Rules of Poetic License' allow me to make up words)...

Interested in a little snow from a weekend Alberta Clipper? All you have to do is close your eyes and click your heels...

And so we proceed, pulling out our rain jackets with polarfleece linings, and watching the surface observations Tuesday evening/night to see if all really will tend to stay at or above freezing as we head into Wednesday. Let us hope so...
Welcome to full week #2 of February, with cold still in the forecast and forecasters still resting on pins and needles with each incoming disturbance. Such is the way it is for now. Life goes on, just like the Hunt...and Mondays..

"On your mark...get set...

"...GO!"

Time to get this week underway and go make some maps. Don't forget, of all the people that could be reading this blog today, you're one of them.

Have a profound day!
